The targeting camera searches over the water and locks onto a small object that seems to skim the surface. The readout shows the jet at 25,000 feet and a range of 4.3 nautical miles.
The Department of Defense released the clip in April 2020 and called it unidentified. In 2023, NASA's independent UAP study team worked through the same readouts and estimated the object was about 13,000 feet up, well above the water, and moving at roughly 40 miles per hour, about wind speed.
