Brazilian papers reported a crashed object at Conde, in Bahia. The U.S. Embassy's cable of November 20, 1963 relays the findings of the consulate's scientific attaché: there was no local reporting at the time, the later newspaper stories contradicted each other, and Brazil's Ministry of Aeronautics flatly denied any "strange object" in Conde.
The cable calls the story unsubstantiated, a fabrication that started in Rio de Janeiro.
